About
Zimbabwe Women in Construction Association is an organisation led by the amazing and trailblazing Elizabeth Chakudunga who was the official first black female contractor in Zimbabwe. Post independence, Elizabeth ventured into the construction industry which was male dominated. After facing one too many hurdles she thought of starting an association which looks after women who are into consrtuction and those interested in the trade.

2006
Our Humble Beginnings
In 2006 the idea became reality when our founding member and president, Dr. Elizabeth Chakudunga, officially registered the association. From that point onwards we became known as the Zimbabwe Women in Construction Association.

2013
Training the Trainers
As the association grew, we saw the need for trainings to be rolled out. We started training individuals who were interested in training others. This helped reach different and distant areas of society.

2015
Business Partnerships
As the years went by we saw the need to network and collaborate with various organisations within our borders and beyond. This opened an array of opportunities for our organisation as we could do exchange programs and exhibitions.

2023
Inaugural ZWICA Conference
As the organisation was expanding we saw the need to conduct a conference where we had dialogue between women in construction and financial institutions. This was a first of its kind and eye opening.
